During the first half of a two-year course, students start their learning path toward a Pearson Edexcel IGCSE and are supported to cover more than fifty percent of the syllabus content.
Learners will be able to understand the main points of familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, and will be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while traveling or living in an area where the Spanish language is spoken. They will be able to produce simple, connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest, and will be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes, and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans. Students will be supported to communicate formally and informally in a range of contexts, and to understand a wide range of texts and styles. Another central aim is to support the development of the Spanish language through realistic and contextualised tasks based on authentic texts.
The lessons focus on facilitating the students’ learning process for them to master the four skills of a language, speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Students are also encouraged to be aware of and take responsibility for their own learning process in a positive and responsible perspective. For example, they are invited to practice self and peer assessment and answer reflexive questions to clarify what they need to do to improve their performance and achieve their goals.
All this is offered in a safe, positive, and engaging virtual context.
